Our Torturous Contempt for the Moral Compass 1180x585mm 2015-16 Acrylic on wood panel… We beat it, stab it, burn it, cut it, bribe it, hide and cover up the damage, brand it, pin life to it, shoot it, spear it with our wars to pieces, distract it, fill it with dis-ease, hooks and catches but… The unobserved deletion of the last of its kind. You don’t know what you have until it is gone, sometimes you don’t know it is gone to miss it… This piece to me is the flawed logic that is war – send in the troops to liberate and at the same time blow the place apart, making it unlivable. Totally counter productive – it continues to be a thing we bought (as taxpayers) but are still paying for (as people)… This major work is my contemplation of the perception limiting boxes I am assigned by subterfuge, judgement, prior deed and proclamation of certainty that sharply narrow the window of observation into my being and also in my acquired ignorance the boxes I meticulously create that limit my perception of myself.
